Pseudomonas sp. is a genus of gram-negative bacteria that can colonize a wide range of niches. Surely you have heard of them, since among their strains are opportunistic pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, responsible for many infections in humans and of great interest due to its frequent resistance to antibiotics.

These bacteria also help in the decomposition of food. In food industry, anyone who has done food analysis will have noticed the high bacterial load that raw materials sometimes carry, and how difficult it is to lower the counts with any additive. It can also be a sign of bad manufacturing practices, since some species may come from human contamination.
